Beniston Family My grandfather's father, Elijah Beniston and his wife, Mary Ann Price Beniston, moved to Roche Percee, Saskatchewan, in 1906, Eli having previously travelled to the area, (in about 1905). to scope out the mining opportunities. They worked and lived in the Roche Percee area until several members of the family died in 1912. My grandfather, Albert Beniston, and his wife, Ada Beniston, survived, moving to Stratford, Ontario that same year. I don't have much information about the Beniston's time in Roche Percee, though I know my grandfather, Albert Joseph Beniston applied, August 1908, for a Homestead #17069 in Pinto, Saskatchewan, (was unsuccessful), and applied again in October 1909 Application #19716. The location of the homestead, at that time, was for the NW quarter section, of section no. 28 in township 1, range 5W of the 2 meridian. submitted by Gordon Moore, Feb 16, 2018 1911 census shows the Eli Beniston family in Estevan, he is shown as a Coal Miner. Some of the family buried in the Pioneer Cemetery south side of Estevan.
