Vic Bentley, a volunteer at the Canadian Museum of Flight at Langley BC, thinks this is a DC6, as CPA flew them from Terrace to Vancouver.
“As the date is 1956-57 the aircraft is not likely to be an Electra as they were only being introduced in the late 1950s and PWA flew them out of Edmonton in the 1970s. They have a distinctive plan view with the engines spread out along the wing.”
Thanks Vic for the update.
