When it was commissioned, SPC issued these orange buttons, and this little Spec. Sheet. Close-up of the specs below.

Contains 4 motor generators which convert the Direct Current to AC

Uses 30 peak megawatts of power. supplied by it's own sub station, via a 23,000 volt cable.

4 operators, on various shifts work the machine.

It took 1500 man hours to build it. Cost $35 million. Cost 9 million more than estimated, due to work stoppages.

In 1984 a machine like this one sold for $54,347,783.00, not exactly pocket change to buy one.

In 1980 this machine was leased to Manalta Coal.
