First Estevan Airport History

Apr 19, 1941 the Carter-Halls-Aldinger Company Ltd. from Winnipeg MB, was awarded the contract to build the main landing field at Estevan SK.
Contracts were let, to build 2 Service Flying Schools in Saskatchewan, under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.
Value of all the contracts was $1,400,000

Company established in Winnipeg in 1907. They built many major buildings across Canada,
Banff Springs Hotel (1920's), Chateau Lake Louise, Palliser Hotel, Hudson's Bay Company store and other Calgary buildings, plus numerous buildings in Winnipeg and other cities.

Company became Commonwealth Construction Company in 1944, Taken over by English Construction firms in 1955
