Klimax Mine was operated by the Battle River Coal Company Ltd., a subsidiary of Alberta Coal Ltd, owned by the Mannix family in Calgary AB.

In 1964, Alberta Coal Ltd. purchased the shares of Great West Coal Ltd., which owned the Klimax mine at the time.
In 1970 it had a head office at 300-9th Ave. SW PO Box 2880, Calgary AB., with a Klimax Mine Office at Estevan
Mine Manager in 1970 was Archie D. Hawkes, father of a school friend of mine, George Hawkes.
Jim Davies was Pit Forman.
1971 article states- The Klimax mine was until recently operated by Great West Coal Company Ltd., which was purchased by Alberta Coal Ltd., a subsidiary of Mannix Co. Ltd. of Calgary.
the Company name was changed to Battle River Coal.

In 1972 the corporate structure changed, and was now under the name of Manalta Coal Ltd.
In 1974 it was the largest single coal producer in Canada, with a total of 6 open pit mines.

In 1975 it had a head office at the same place only now listed under Manalta Coal Ltd., as a part of Loram International Ltd.
Estevan Office PO Box 490, and Casper Jenish was Mine Manager

In 1970 they had a 500W Bucyrus-Erie dragline, with a 12 Cu Yd Bucket.
a 120B, a 50B and an 88B Shovels, with a fleet of 8, 50 ton coal haulers.
