Rosswood, British Columbia, Canada

Betty Geier enjoying a good book, by her wood stove

Most of the photos below were taken by her husband Bill, for their Rosswood Yearly Calendar.
I know Misty Rivers Books in Terrace carries a few copies at the beginning of each year.
Also available at the Rosswood Store.
Very limited copies.
I highly recommend them.

Guy Mills Cabin on Egan Road, ca early 1940's

Hughes Log Barn, on lot 431, north end of Kitsumkalum Lake

Amazing photo of remains of an old log cabin
Is it a photo, or is it a painting?

from Betty Geier- The prospector cabin (photo looks sort of like a painting) was built by Tom Presby Sr. on Wesach (Hall) Creek in 1932. Thomas Butler Presby arrived at Kitselas before 1910. He was involved in placer mining, first at Gold (Kleanza) Creek, then later in the Kalum area. He spoke of being part of the Klondike gold rush in 1997 before he came to the Skeena area. The cabin has now completely collapsed. Bill took this photo in 2016.

Remains of an old log cabin on Maroon Mountain
Photo taken by one of the Geier Children

From Betty Geier- I wish we knew who built the mining cabin on Maroon Mountain. The first time I saw it, probably in the nineteen-eighties, one half of it had been re-shaked by someone (I wonder who!). The last time I was up there was in 2015, when that photo was taken. It has now totally collapsed, I am told—too bad! I know Alfred Egan and his family (his wife, Christine was the niece of Matt Allard) spent some time up there MANY years ago. Other folks must know more about that cabin. Below is a photo of a machine (near the cabin) left from the long ago mining projects which were part of the Bear and Cub claims (owned by Matt Allard) on the north-facing side of Maroon Mountain.
