Newspaper Article describing the construction of the Co-op site
Jan 1961 article from Beryl Southernwood via Barry Dies, Mar 2021
From Barry Dies Mar 2021- “That is where I lived from 1952-1963.
I got the newspaper clipping from Beryl Southernwood last week. They lived in the house at the west end of the block, in the pic.
From the east end of the block, where they built the co-op gas station, 2nd house in was the Hochstein house, then Larry Preddy's Grandparents on his mom's side, the Hedegards.
Then our house at 814 4th st. Don Olshanoski family lived on the west side of us, followed by the Trinity Lutheran Church at 824 4th st., Their parsonage was at 737 3rd street, and Rev. J. Fredrik “Fred” Haugen was the Minister (1958-1964).
Then on the west side of the church was Granbergs I believe. I think they bought the end house and Hochsteins, with the 4 houses on the west end of the block at that time.
The church got moved down to Perkins st, or in that area. I believe the Hedegard house ended up down there as well. Our house and Olshanoskis got torn down in fall of 63 I believe.”
