St. Peter's Spring, aka “1874 Spring”,“74 Spring”
Located in SE Saskatchewan, Canada
July 24, 1874, The NWMP stopped here, and sank Half wooden barrels into the mud holes here,
With holes cut into the bottom, surrounded by stones, to try and get drinking water for their men and animals.
“A” Troop, left Scout Hill - (Hill of the Murdered Scout) at 3:30 AM, and marched 16 miles to St. Peter's Spring.
From here they traveled to the Short Creek Camp, SW of Roche Percee, South of the Souris River, and just west of Short Creek.

Directions-
As you travel South to North Portal, from Bienfait/Estevan area, In the Valley, first you cross the Souris River,
then the Gravel Valley Road to Roche Percee (west), next the Railroad tracks (CPR Soo Line),
At this point you will be heading up, out of the valley. The spring is located on the right (West) side of Highway 39
near the top of the valley.
A line of trees on the East side, hide the small creek, that flows to the Souris River. There is a culvert under the Highway here.
Who Named the Spring ?- The Metis Fur Trader's, from what I have been able to find, named the Spring.
The Spring is on Private Property.
